Prevention
There are some strategies to prevent the yeast infections:
• the external genital area should be kept dry and clean
• vaginal sprays and irritating soaps should be avoided
• powders, toilet tissues and smelling soaps should be avoided
• panty liners can trap the moisture and prevent good airflow, because of that reason avoid to use them
• tampons and sanitary napkins should be changed frequently.
• cotton underwear should be preferred
• do not stay in wet bathing suit and change it with a dry suits after swimming
• your blood sugar level should be stable if you are diabetes patient
• use antibiotics only if your doctor advises you to use them and never use them longer than the doctor’s advice. Antibiotics can kill both destroying bacteria causing illness and good bacteria keeping the yeast at a normal level in the vagina. If the yeast infection occurs whenever you use the antibiotics, ask your doctor to advise you an antifungal drug at the same time.
• clean your vagina from front to the back (away from the vagina) after urination or bowel movement
• douching with chemicals increases the risk of vaginal yeast infection as a result of vaginal bacteria balance’s changing. So, do not use douches.
