How to prevent the smell of sweat

When we do a physical activity such as walking in the hot weather or speaking, our body naturally produces sweat so we perspire. Sweating is a cooling mechanism that prevents overheating of the body. There are between two and five millions sweat glands in our body. In fact, sweat is composed of water and salt (sodium chloride). Sweat is actually odorless liquid. As a result, sweating is natural and healthy but the amount varies from person to person.
There are lots of factors that cause sweating such as exercising, hot air, irritability, anxiety or stress, certain diseases and so on. Emotional reasons to trigger sweating can be often seen on the face, in the armpits, palms and soles of your feet. But the amount and smell of sweat can be affected from your mood, the foods that you eat (spicy foods), the beverages (coffee, alcohol), hormones, the drugs that you use and the existing diseases.
Some people have a tendency to sweat especially in the palms and soles. It is almost impossible to define normal sweating because of all these factors. But if there is an increase more than normal in your sweating, you should consult your doctor. Such a situation may be a symptom of various diseases. The best way of preventing smell of sweat is to take precautions. Likewise, you can also reduce foot odor by taking the same precautions. The following measures will help you to prevent sweating and eliminate sweat and foot odor.
Take a shower every day. Regular baths keep the number of bacteria in your skin under control. Dry your feet thoroughly after bath. Microorganisms love moist places such as between toes. Foot powder or foot care creams help to absorb moisture.
Shaving the underarms and genitalia regularly reduces sweating and odor. You should prefer shoes made from natural leather allowing your feet to breathe. You can wear sandal-type shoes in summer months. Wear your shoes alternately. Shoes may not dry enough in one night. When you’re not wearing shoes, put them in airy and dry place. Change your socks every day. Walk barefoot on the floor or occasionally put off your shoes. You should prefer clothes made from natural fabric. Linen, wool, silk are the types of texture that allow your skin to breathe.
You should change your underwear every day. Learn relaxation techniques. Yoga, meditation or biofeedback helps to control the sweating which is triggered by stress. Make changes in your diet. Food can also lead to the smell of sweat. Foods such as onions, garlic, bacon, fish, some green plants can cause odor. Altough these are useful, you should consume them at appropriate times. Use deodorants and sprays that prevent sweating. If you have a sensitive skin, prefer the cosmetic products that are special for sensitive skins. People often do not notice the smell of their sweat, so you should check yourself frequently.
