THE normal blood pressure of body is 120/80. When the blood pressure falls, it is called hypotension or low blood pressure. Low blood pressure is not good for the body as it makes the heart weak. It can also lead to lethargy, fatigue, weakness, dizziness and sometimes nervousness and anxiety. Low blood pressure results from malnutrition and improper diet and lack of vitamins, minerals and low levels of electrolytes in the blood. It can be effectively controlled by taking foods rich in Vitamin B and Vitamin C. The following foods are helpful in treating low blood pressure:

•Beetroot: a cup of juice or salad is very good.
•Indian spikenard: take about 30-40 grams of this herb. Make sure you have a pinch of cinnamon or camphor. You can also use its concoction and have it three times daily.

Increase your intake of salt. Try to add a little more salt to your food. Vitamin B complex supplements are also known to very effective. Citrus fruits like oranges and lemons are very rich sources of Vitamin C. Try and include other fruits too in your diet. Exercise complements the effects of medication and nutrition. Daily physical exercise is a must.
