Diagnosis of Cervical Cancer

Generally the first complaining is the bleedings as the shape of maculation after sex. There cannot be so many complaining in the early periods of cervical (cervix) cancer. Most women are unaware of the disease until the disease improves to the other organs and prevents them to work. In its early stages, there is no pain complaining. The complaining occurs after it grows to the proper size. However, cancer cells can be spread as a wide style in the passed period until the complaining occurs. Diagnosing of cervix cancer is possible in the very early period of disease with pap-smear test which is done routinely once a year. Pap-smear test can diagnose the %90 of cervical cancers in their early periods. The death rate of cervical cancer has decreased %50 after sexually active women in developed countries are obliged to make smear test once a year. Sexually active women’s annually smear test application is vital for the early diagnosis of cervical cancer. In the situation of being positive of smear test in terms of cervical cancer, it is necessary to be taken biopsy from cervix for exact diagnosis. This biopsy’s application is convenient in the event of being made with a tool called colposcope which enlarges the uterus mouth like a microscope. Biopsy application can be made both as taking some pieces from the suspected areas or scratching the cervix’s inside channel with a shovel (Punch biopsy + endo cervical abortion) and with LEEP application which provides the extracting of the uterus mouth wholly. Both applications are painless applications. The taken samples are examined pathologically. If woman has cervical cancer, the degree of spreading the cancer is surveyed at the later stage. For this purpose, IVP (medicated kidney x-ray), recto- sigmoidoscopy (examining the intestine end), lung x-ray and abdomen ultrasound are applied routinely. When it is necessary, computerized tomography, bladder survey (sigmoidoscopy) and rectum x-ray can be added.
